Privacy statement

Effective July 27, 2026

The short version: your dictation, your reports, and your patients' information never leave your workstation. Dictum was built by a practicing radiologist specifically so that nothing you say or write requires a cloud service to process it.

What runs locally (everything)

• Speech recognition — the voice model runs on your computer's own processor. Audio is never transmitted anywhere.
• Impression drafting — the AI language model that drafts impressions from your findings runs entirely on your workstation. Report text is never transmitted anywhere.
• Learned autocomplete — the phrases Dictum learns from your reporting style are stored in a local file on your machine and are never uploaded.

Dictum has no user accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, and no crash reporting. Its log files record technical events only (timings, byte counts, error messages) — never report text or patient information.

What touches the network

• Downloading Dictum and its AI models — from dictum.report and public model mirrors (GitHub, Hugging Face, nuget.org). Like any web download, those servers see your IP address and browser/app version in standard server logs. No report content is ever involved.
• Update checks — once a day the app fetches a small text file from dictum.report to learn whether a newer version exists. The request carries no personal data.

This website uses Google Analytics to count page views and download clicks, so we know which pages are worth writing. It is configured to store nothing on your device: no cookies, no local storage, nothing that outlives the page you are on. No visitor can be recognized from one page or one visit to the next. Google receives what any web server receives: your IP address, your browser, and the page URL. The Dictum app itself has no analytics of any kind.

Pilot-updates email list (optional)

If you enter your email in the "Get pilot updates" box, we store exactly two things on our own server: your email address and the time you signed up. Nothing else — no name, no IP address retained with it, no third-party mailing service, no tracking pixels in the emails we send. We use it only to send occasional product updates. Reply to any email (or write to aabajian@gmail.com) and we'll delete your address.

Data stored on your machine

• Settings and logs: %APPDATA%\Dictum
• AI models and the installed app: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Dictum
• Learned phrases: %APPDATA%\Dictum\user_phrases.json (clear via Tools → "Clear Learned Phrases…")
• Draft recovery snapshots: kept locally, cleared on send or when compose mode is turned off

Uninstalling (Windows Settings → Apps → Dictum) removes the app and offers to remove the downloaded models; deleting the two folders above removes every trace.

Your responsibility as a clinician

Dictum's AI drafts are suggestions for a qualified physician to review, edit, and approve — you remain responsible for the final signed report. The impression model (MedGemma, by Google) is used under the Health AI Developer Foundations terms.
